Our Story
Welcome to Discount Book Distributors (Pty) Ltd trading as DISCOUNT BOOKS.
We are a retail and wholesale book company based in the beautiful Helderberg District. We sell books anywhere in South Africa and beyond. We supply a number of well-known retail chains and outlets as well as independent book stores on a wholesale basis.
We also sell directly to the public through our warehouse store in Somerset West as well as at our various locations such as markets, pop-up stores, and shopping mall centre courts throughout the Western Cape.
We are very excited to offer our specialised services of on-site SCHOOL and CORPORATE book sales. If you book a school or corporate sale we even give you back a percentage of the sales in books or cash! We look forward to booking your sale and discussing your specific needs. We have books for all ages and tastes at unbeatable prices and a mammoth selection from which to choose. We stock international and South African titles in English, Afrikaans, and isiXhosa. What’s more – we take delivery of new books weekly if not daily. We strive to offer our customers an alternative to the exorbitant prices of books today without compromising on quality and selection.

We are a proudly South African company – we stock titles from South African authors and also source stock internationally – all our efforts are geared toward providing our customers with a fantastic range at the best prices possible. Unfortunately not everyone in our beautiful country can (or wants to) pay the exorbitant prices being charged at some outlets for books – shop with us and you won’t have to! Community Engagement
We are committed to helping disadvantaged schools and communities and to assist those less fortunate with books and materials needed for reading, writing, and play. We make direct donations to community organisations and schools in need, and also assist private benefactors with generous discounts when they purchase books from us to donate to children in need.
As part of our SCHOOLS’ programme, we provide the opportunity for the more fortunate schools to partner with, and donate books to those schools in need – we then match the number of books donated – thereby doubling the total number of books going to eager readers in need. A win-win situation for both schools!
